Allen Keller, MD, serves on the Advisory Council for Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), and was the co-author in PHR’s ground-breaking report, Broken Laws, Broken Lives: Medical Evidence of Torture by US Personnel and Its Impact (2008). He is internationally recognized as an expert in treatment and evaluation of torture. Dr. Keller currently holds the title of Associate Professor of Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, and is the Director of the NYU Center for Health and Human Rights.

Dr. Keller has garnered several awards for his work in health and human rights, including the Barbara Chester Award from the Hopi Foundation and the Arthur C. Helton Human Rights Award from the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is a two-time recipient of the graduating class of New York University School of Medicine’s Humanism in Medicine Award. In 2007 he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from New York University, and the Center for Victims of Torture in Minneapolis presented him with the Eclipse Award in 2008.
